Brian Blackham

Brian Blackham is well known for his strong, Impressionistic style of painting and a palette that calls to mind the mountains, deserts and beaches of the West. Blackham veers ever so closely to abstraction. The repetition of working the same subject from the same angle, in seemingly identical light, becomes an act of meditation, not just for the painter but the viewer, as well. The heavy use of paint is more akin to construction, as Blackham builds the illusion of space, light and time passing while holding us still in the moment.
